Activities with Amber - Toilet Roll Crafts!
I hope you all are having a good week so far. As I was looking around my own house for supplies to use for homemade crafts, I found something that I know everyone has plenty of: toilet paper rolls! After some hearty Pinterest scrolling, I have found that you can practically make anything out of toilet paper rolls. Listed below are a few crafts that are fun, easy, and as always, will get your kiddos outside. These crafts will have your children feeling like the king (or queen) of the outdoors in no time! So let's ROLL!
Activity #1: Bird Feeder
Items needed: Toilet paper roll, peanut butter, birdseed, hole puncher, string
Hole punch two holes across from each other at the top of the roll. Hole punch 4 holes in the bottom to slide sticks through.
Tie a string through the holes in the top of the roll.
Cover the toilet paper roll with peanut butter
Roll the toilet paper roll in birdseed so it is completely covered
Find a place outside to hang the bird feeder
Have fun birdwatching!
Activity #2: Toilet Paper Roll Binoculars
Items needed: Tape/ glue, decoration supplies, hole puncher, string
Decorate two toilet paper rolls (paint, stickers, markers). Have fun with it! Interested in heart-shaped binoculars? Click here!
Tape/ glue two toilet paper rolls together
Punch a hole on the outer sides and add a string for the "strap"
Make it fun with some a game of Nature I Spy!
Activity #3: Toilet Paper Roll Seed Starter Pots
Items needed: scissors, soil, seeds
Cut toilet paper rolls in half
Cut slits about 1/3 of the way up and fold like you would close a box (see picture below)
Add soil
Add seeds of choice
Place in a window sill and water when soil is dry
P.S. When the seeds have sprouted, stick the whole roll in the ground and they will decompose!
I hope these crafts will take the excess of paper towel rolls off of your hands (and hopefully your kids too). For more toilet paper roll fun, check out KiwiCo!
Stay happy, healthy and positive. We are going to get through this together, love you all!
