Story of Hope: Max
“We were looking at all of the pictures throughout the week and the first thing we thought of was that Max is definitely being himself (posing with those crazy facial expressions) and the biggest thing we noticed was just how much fun Max is having. Camp Southern Ground is such a blessing for Max. Max is a child with differences/disabilities and it wasn’t until he hit middle school that he would remark how he can’t read as well as his peers, write as well as his peers, that he isn’t invited to parties like everyone else, and that not as many kids talked to him anymore. Even having 4 brothers who love on him, Max feels the absence of friends. You ALL give him the freedom to be himself without judgement, the sense of belonging in a world that often isn’t so kind to “different,” the friends that he will talk about with his brothers, and TRULY the most amazing week that will remain in his memory and heart until he comes again next year.
As a parent of a child with disabilities I cannot tell you how many minutes I use just worrying about Max’s present and future happiness. This week has been a rest for my worry because I know that you all are angels and that Max is having the best time ever.
Thank you - from the top, middle and bottom of my heart!” – Max’s Mom
