Moving in the Morning with Coach Caleb - Be Water, My Friend
“Empty your mind, be formless, shapeless – like water. Now you put water into a cup, it becomes the cup, you put water into a bottle, it becomes the bottle, you put it in a teapot, it becomes the teapot. Now water can flow or it can crash. Be water, my friend.”
Coming out of college, I could get by with my toothbrush and a couch to crash on. I was looking to experience the world and see what it had to offer. As I got older, I started to become harder to please and enamored by the fancier things in life. I now needed the newest iPhone and the best new mattress. Many people, like me, can become accustomed to the riches in life. We have high taste in food, clothes, robot vacuums, fancy cars, and a million other things.
Recently, due to the Coronavirus, I’ve had to give up a lot of the luxuries in my life. I know a lot of families have had to cut back on a lot of their non-essential luxuries and that can be difficult. I’ve learned that it is important to not get too spoiled on luxuries but to learn how to be content and at peace in any situation you can.
Our Practice:
Today we’re going to practice how to get comfortable in a variety of different positions. We will start by trying to clear our minds in an easy position and work our way to some of the warrior positions. Can you be at peace even when there is discomfort in your practice?
