Activities with Amber - Drawing Landscapes
Hello young artists and families!
I hope you have enjoyed the drawing tutorials so far, I know I have! This week I am going to teach you something a little more difficult, but I know you all can handle it. We are going to learn how to draw a landscape with perspective!! A “landscape portrait” is just a fun term for an outdoor scene. This is a super useful lesson because you don’t have to go far to find a landscape to paint or draw, you can just step outside! Your landscape creation can be of a pretty lighthouse while visiting the beach, a beautiful sunset, the tree in your backyard, or even something from your imagination. I hope with this knowledge, you all will begin to feel comfortable taking out a sketchbook next time you see some pretty scenery.
Something that I will be talking about in our landscape tutorial is “perspective”. Perspective is the angle or direction that someone looks at an object. Another definition for this word is a way of showing objects on the flat surface of a picture so that they seem the correct size and distance from each other.
Prepare for the class:
Together, we will be drawing this beautiful mountain scene! If you are planning on having your artists join the Zoom Live on 6/16, please have them come with a few pieces of paper and a medium of their choice (crayons, colored pencils, paint, pencil, etc). Below is a picture of the instructions I will be using if you would like to practice before.
Happy drawing and see you all next week!
