Moving in the Morning with Coach Caleb - Strength
Thought of the Day:
“Strength grows in the moments when you think you can’t keep going and you do.”
Strength is very important in our lives. Not just physical strength but mental and emotional strength as well. We want to build strength so that we are prepared to overcome during hard times and help others when they are weak. When you face an obstacle and are able to overcome that obstacle you are growing stronger. This can be as simple as not reacting when someone puts you down or when you stub your toe being able to “walk it off”.
Strength comes in many different forms and pushing our limits on physical strength can teach us how to push our self in our mental/emotional strength as well.
What are we doing?
We are going to be learning some exercises to build our legs and focusing on the lunge and squat. I will be teaching appropriate standards and form.
Movement to Practice:
The Squat.
The squat is performed with our knees staying behind our toes, our butt back, and our knees facing outwards. Slowly work your way to get lower, so eventually (with weeks/months practice) you are able to sit comfortably below parallel.
The Lunge
The lunge is performed by stepping one foot forward and squating down to touch your other knee to the ground. The further you step out the deeper you are strengthening your glute. Proper form is keeping your knee behind your toes and chest facing forward.
