Moving in the Morning with Coach Caleb - The Bones

One of the most missed parts of the body is training your core.  Your core includes the abs but also a bunch of tiny muscles that are the most important part for functional movement.  Your core is something you can work on everyday.

What are we doing?

We are going to be learning some exercises to build our core and focusing on the sit-up.  I will be teaching appropriate standards and form.

Thought of the day

We’re in the homestretch of the hard times
We took a hard left, but we’re alright
Yeah, life sure can try to put love through it, but
We built this right, so nothing’s ever gonna move it
— Marren Morris “The Bones”

In everything we do we should start by building a strong foundation.  We should be striving to be healthy in all aspects of life.  Emotionally, spiritually, mentally, nutritionally and physically healthy.  To build a strong foundation for being physically healthy we will focus on being consistent in our workouts, focus on proper form, and always train our core.

Movement to Practice:

The Sit-up.

THe frog situp.jpg

This movement can be performed in a few different ways.  The easiest way is to frog your legs opened like a book, reach your arms back behind your head, and use your hands to help you swing up to touch your feet.

For a little bit more of a challenge you can put your feet straight out, and if you want a really tough challenge, put your hands lightly touching your head and move slowly.

Workout of the Day:

Join me on Tuesday at 10am to get a full demonstration of the movements.

Tabata:

20 seconds on 10 seconds off for 4 minutes

2 rounds of:

  • Sit-ups

  • Jumping Jacks

  • Low Boat

  • Mountain Climbers
